The XVI Summit of heads of states of Non-Aligned Movement members (NAM) will be held in Tehran in late September, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast said at a press conference on Tuesday.

According to the Iranian TV channel IRINN, Mehmanparast said that a meeting of NAM foreign ministers will be held in Egypt on May 9. Preparations for the summit and its agenda will be discussed.

The NAM is the international organisation uniting 118 world countries on the principles of non-participation in military blocs. First of all, NATO and the Warsaw Pact were implied at the time of establishing the organisation.

The NAM was officially established by 25 countries at the Belgrade conference in September 1961. It includes the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
