Schneider Electric offers solutions for better energy efficiency in SOCAR project

Schneider Electric co-sponsored the 2nd SOCAR OGPC Forum held on 5-6 November 2014 at the Fairmont Hotel in Baku where the local and foreign oil and gas specialists had an intensive exchange of knowledge and experience to contribute to the energy sector development in Azerbaijan.

In his presentation Mr Paolo Zunino, Schneider Electric Europe, Middle East & Africa Major Projects Group Team Leader pointed out that the scale, complexity, tight schedule of today's major oil and gas projects demanded the efficient executions from the initial conception and architecting, through detailed implementation, performance validation and testing, to commissioning and finally handover to end users. According to the speaker, Schneider Electric Plant Automation (MAC) and Plant Electrification (MEC) solutions for large oil gas processing facilities doubled with the global energy management specialist's experience and knowledge are able to significantly contribute to achieving the lowest total cost of ownership. The plan automation offers assist to provide actionable information across the plant and enterprise to achieve targeted operations and business performances while Plan Electrification proposals protect, monitor and manage energy usage and costs while dynamically adapting to operations.

The OGPC project undermines the construction of gas processing plan with a capacity of 12 bcma, petrochemical plant of base polymers with a capacity 860 thousand tones of Polymer (high density and low-density polyethylene and polypropylene). The utilities and off-sites planned for the complex will include construction of an autonomous Power Plant. The complex will be located 60 km from Baku and ECP works completion and start-up of the 1st Phase facilities are planned for 2020 year.

The Forum became a good venue for both foreign and local companies to receive reliable and detailed information about the development of SOCAR OGPC project, get more market knowledge and have direct negotiations with the involved parties.
