Azerbaijan exported 44.04 million kilowatt/hours of electric energy in 1Q2016, as compared to 101.67 million kilowatt/hours exported in the same period of 2015, said the statistical report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).
Azerbaijan exported electric energy worth $2.13 million in January-March 2016 versus $6.11 million exported during the same period of 2015, according to the report.
Azerbaijan exported 276.78 million kilowatt/hours of electricity in 2015 versus 588.32 million kilowatt/hours exported in 2014.
Azerenergy JSC is the main producer of electric energy in Azerbaijan. The company has hundreds of substations and dozens of power plants on its balance.
Generation capacity of Azerbaijan's electric power system grew by 30 percent over the past five years.
