The Dashkesan iron ore deposit promises great prospects for the production of metal products based on local raw materials, which will replace the imported products, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said, Trend reports on Sept. 24 with reference to the Ministry of Economy.
“The Dashkesan iron ore deposit has a great export potential,” the minister added.
The minister said that the operation of the field will have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the western region of the country, strengthen the position of the mining industry, as well as metallurgy in the non-oil sector.
Jabbarov stressed the importance of developing an iron ore deposit using the latest standards and advanced international technologies.
Stressing the importance of re-operation of the field in terms of creating new jobs, the minister said that this process will make a special contribution to development of human capital.
The deposit with reserves reaching 350 million tons of ore was continuously used from 1954 through 1994. Some 92 million tons of minerals were extracted during this period.
