US Report on Iran’s Nuclear Plan May be Trap: Iranian Politician

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend D.Khatinoglu / The report on Iran's nuclear plan which was prepared by the investigation organizations of the USA contains double standards. "There are not doubts that the US investigation organizations' report on Iran's nuclear plan is a trap," said the Iranian politician Arif Kaskin, who is functioning in Turkey.

On 30 November the report prepared by the US investigation organizations was spread, which ceased Iran's plans on production of nuclear weapons from 2003 to 2007 as a result of peaceful pressure. The Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, described the report as the most successful step of Iran in the recent 100 years, IRNA reported. Majority of Iran's senior officials positively welcomed the report. However, several representatives of the Iranian Parliament condemned the positive reaction. According to him, the report is directed against Iran.

"The report contains many negative moments. I do not exclude that the report is a trap for official Tehran," Kaskin reported to Trend on 11 December by telephone from Ankara. "In my opinion, it needs to spread the new resolution of the UN Security Council leaning on the positive moments in the report," he said.

According to Kaskin, the new report may prevent strengthening the pressure of the USA and its partners amongst '5+ 1' countries against Iran. "Highlighting the positive moments of the new report, Russia and China did not express consent on UN Security Council's adoption of the third resolution against Iran. Based on this report, Iran is preparing for new diplomatic activity, tries to meet with the representatives of 5+1 countries, expands economic co-operation in the region, especially with Turkey and China. The agenda includes re-establishing relations between Iran and Egypt," Kaskin said.

On 11 December the representatives of 5+1 countries discussed the implementation of the third resolution of the UN Security Council against Iran. The USA expresses confidence in strengthening sanctions against Iran.
