Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 February / Trend corr. G.Jabiyev / The plans for the pre-election campaign of candidate from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), the current President Ilham Aliyev, have been developed, MP Mubariz Gurbanli, executive secretary of NAP, stated to trend.
The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan on 15 October 2008. The Azadlig bloc, which unites Popular Front, Liberal and Citizen and Development, stated that the bloc would boycott the upcoming elections if no changes take place in the composition of election commissions.
Gurbanli said that mass rallies were being planned.
The NAP was founded in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan (NAR) in 1992 by Heydar Aliyev, who then was the chair of the Nakhchivan Parliament. The present chair of the party is the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who has been in the position for 14 years.
