Russian Citizens in Azerbaijan May Participate in Presidential Elections in Polling Stations Baku and Gabala

Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 February /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The Russian citizens, temporarily residing in Azerbaijan, will be able to vote in Baku and Gabala during the Presidential elections in Russia.

On 2 March, the Presidential elections will take place in Russia. According to 2003 Federal Law on Election of the President of the Russian President, the Foreign Ministry will organize and hold the democratic elections amongst Russian citizens residing abroad.

Two polling stations have been established in Azerbaijan - in Russian Embassy in Baku and Azerbaijan's district of Gabala, where Russian citizens- working in Gabala Radar Station leased by Russia in Azerbaijan temporarily reside, a source stated in Russia's Embassy in Azerbaijan on 28 February.

According to the Russian legislation, the voting will take place from 8:00 to 20:00 local time.

To observe the voting process, the Russian political parties may appoint their observers amongst the Russians residing abroad.
