Azerbaijan, Baku, July 2 / Trend , R.Hafizoglu /

The Turkish Army supports not coup, but democracy, said a member of the Republican People's Party (RPP) MP Onur Oymen.

"The Turkish Army is a supporter of not chaos and a coup in the country, but it is a supporter of democracy," Oymen told Trend by telephone from Ankara.

On June 12, the Turkish press published a document about army's preparation of a coup in the country. The document says that under the leadership of the Turkish Army Colonel, Dursun Chichyak, a coup was attempted against the ruling Justice and Development Party (JDP). Despite that the Chief of General Staff, Army General Ilker Bashbug in his statement denied the existence of such a plan, Colonel Chichyak was arrested on June 30 and freed in two days.

Oymen believes that the ruling party takes an unfair position on the army and the statement that the army is preparing a coup, does not correspond to reality.

"Nobody has the right to insult the Turkish Army," said the MP.
