Ashgabat has today started an international on Nuclear Disarmament in Central Asia and Caspian Sea Littoral States, an official Turkmen source reported.

Senior representatives of international organizations delivered speeches. They include Deputy UN Secretary General, UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Sergio de Queiroz Duarte, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut and OSCE Chairman Kanat Saudabayev.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov's appeal was also read out at the ceremony. This regional forum of high rank is held in Ashgabat on initiative his initiative.

The Turkmen leader said that "at present, zone of the Central Asian and Caspian region is a crossroads through which transport corridors and energy bridge of the Eurasian continent have been laid. This allows to confirm that the fate of the security of the continent and, indeed, the entire world is largely decided here".

During the plenary sessions the situation in the region will be analyzed, the relevant international legal framework will be discussed and the experience of international organizations in this regard will be studied.
