Deepening of relations with Azerbaijan is of great importance for Austria, Austrian President Heinz Fischer said.
President Fischer hosted a New Year reception for the Vienna diplomatic corps on Monday, Austrian news agency APA reported.
In his speech, President Fischer mentioned the priorities and main directions of Austria's foreign policy this year, Azerbaijani ambassador to Austria Fuad Ismailov told Trend.
"In particular, he noted the government's intention to hold a joint conference with the World Economic Forum in June. The conference will be devoted to development of the regions of the Balkans, Black Sea, Caucasus and Central Asia," the diplomat said.
After the completion of the event, Azerbaijani ambassador to Austria Fuad Ismayilov met with President Fischer and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger. During the meeting, the Austrian side stressed the hope to continue fruitful cooperation between the two countries, an additional momentum to which should be high-level visits, he said.
