The Georgian and Israeli foreign ministries are conducting political consultations at the deputy ministerial level, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at the traditional Monday briefing in Tbilisi.

The sides mull political and economic affairs, Kalandadze said.

The event will also discuss information about Israeli businessmen visiting Abkhazia.

"We are aware of Tel Aviv's official position stating that no cooperation with Abkhazia will take place and that Israel unequivocally supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of
Georgia. Despite this, the issue is acute that it must be discussed and Israel will be given the opportunity to fix its position once more," Kalandadze said.

A memorandum of understanding between Georgia and Israel on the bilateral political consultations will be signed today.
