One must not politicize the events in Ismayilli. The opposition must not use these events for its own purposes, Chairman of Council of State Support to NGOs under the Azerbaijani President, MP Azay Guliyev told Trend today.
He was commenting on the civil disturbance in Ismayilli.
He has condemned forces looking to use these events for gain.
"I believe that one must not abuse the situation," he said. "There is no sense in politicizing these events. The opposition must not use them in their interests. Authorities are working on the matter and investigating the cause of these events. I am confident that perpetrators will be punished."
He added that it is unpleasant when citizens act in such a manner.
"We feel the cause of disturbance was an ordinary traffic accident," he added. "Improper behavior on the part of the two instigators and their disrespect for the local population further provoked it."
An incident occurred in Ismayilli at 21:30 (local time) on January 23. As a result, the Chirag hotel and four different cars were burnt.
The city of Ismayilli is in the north-east of Azerbaijan, 174 kilometers from Baku.
