Yanukovych: Russia should help to prevent chaos in Ukraine, but without invasion
Russia should use all available means to prevent chaos and terror in Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, who has declared his legitimacy as president of Ukraine, said, RIA Novosti reported on Feb. 28.
However, he stressed that he is "strongly against" invasion of the country.
"Russia can not be indifferent, to stand aside to the fate of such a major partner as Ukraine. Russia must use all available means to prevent the chaos, terror, which is now present in Ukraine," he said at a press conference in Russian city of Rostov-on-Don on Friday.
However Yanukovych did not elaborate on how Russia should act in Ukraine.
"It is hard to say. But I want to say again and add that I am totally against the invasion in Ukraine," he added.
