By Seba Aghayeva - Trend:
The US Department of State's attacks on Azerbaijan are unjustified and unacceptable, Azerbaijani MP Fuad Muradov said.
"Unfortunately, we have been feeling Secretary of State John Kerry's specific attitude to Azerbaijan for a long time," Muradov told Trend. "An anti-Azerbaijani campaign conducted by Kerry's office testifies to this."
Muradov was commenting on the documents received in connection with an anti-Azerbaijani campaign conducted from John Kerry's office.
"Of course, the fact that Azerbaijan is becoming stronger and more independent causes zealous attitude in some circles," he said. "We see this in the statements of some international non-governmental organizations that are directly connected with the US Department of State."
Muradov said that in their recent reports, these organizations criticize Azerbaijan.
"But somehow they always forget about a million refugees, expelled from their native lands as a result of Armenian aggression," he said. "They also forget that Armenian snipers continue to be on the frontline and about two Azerbaijani hostages - Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev, who are currently kept by the Armenian side.
"All this hasn't been reflected in the reports of these international organizations," said Muradov. "We see only unhealthy criticism and accusations against Azerbaijan. I think that it is a purposeful campaign."
The mentioned factors suggest that all this is aimed at restraining Azerbaijan from pursuing independent policy and to turn the country into an outpost of some countries in the region, he said.
"This will never happen," said Muradov. "Today, the head of state pursues an independent policy and the country is not going to abandon this path."
"Such an attitude causes a major blow on Azerbaijani-US relations and I hope that Obama administration will have a serious approach to this issue and the US ambassador to Azerbaijan will also assess this," he said.
The latest investigation revealed that the anti-Azerbaijani campaign is conducted from the office of the US State Secretary John Kerry.
The National Endowment for Democracy organization has been ordered to hold this campaign. The organization that is financed from the US budget, has been trying to create "the fifth column" in Azerbaijan for many years. NED has sent millions of dollars to some NGOs and media structures in Azerbaijan from the sources in the West.
