Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend Z.Safarov / "By the end of the year the number of medal won by the Azerbaijani athletes this year is likely to reach 400, Azad Rahimov, the Azerbaijani Minister for Youth and Sports, said at a news conference on 22 November.
The minister reported that over the past few years this figure would increase considerably. "182 awards were achieved at Olympic disciplines. Most of them were achieved by the new generation of Azerbaijani athletes. The numbers of medals gained by Azerbaijani sportsmen has grown considerably compared to last year," Rahimov stressed.
He also said that by the end of the year the Azerbaijani sportsmen would participate in several international competitions and could fulfill their potential.
