The main goal of the "Can Azerbaijan" TV channel in Turkey is to ensure the cultural needs of over three million Azerbaijanis living in Turkey, establish cultural relations between them, one of the founders of the channel Jamal Mehmetkhanoglu told Trend by telephone from Izmir on Jan. 15.
"The channel will propagate Azerbaijani culture. Furthermore, one of the goals of the channel is to present Azerbaijani culture to the world, bringing to the attention of more than 50 million Azerbaijanis living in the world our language, music, traditions and customs," said Mehmetkhanoglu.
According to him, the channel has many goals and achieving them would be good if the TV channels in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and other agencies would collaborate with the TV channel.
"The TV channel will do its best in this regard. This is national television. The purpose of the channel is not commerce and making money. This distinguishes our channel from others," said Mehmetkhanoglu.
He said that the channel will broadcast in Azeri and Turkish languages.
From February this year "Can Azerbaijan" TV channel will be opened for the Azerbaijanis living in Turkey. Programs of the channel will initially be broadcasted on the Internet, and then via Türksat satellite.
