Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.11 / Trend M. Aliyev /

Combating corruption is not a campaign, but rather the policy of the country's leadership, Azerbaijani Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Bahar Muradova told journalists on Friday.

She urged the public and particularly journalists not to get involved in corruption crimes.

On behalf of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Commission for the Fight Against Corruption held a meeting presided by head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev on Jan. 27, the AzerTAj state news agency reported.

"Everyone can regard anti-corruption activity in the country as differently. Activities, which are underway at present, are carried out in accordance with state programs designed for the future perspective of the Azerbaijani Republic, and there is no need to seek anything unusual here. One of the directions of the anti-corruption activity is ensuring the transparency of this struggle," Muradova said.

Muradova added that the fight against corruption, which is underway in Azerbaijan, is not related to the events in Arab countries.

"It is not related with Tunisia or with Egypt. There are people in Azerbaijan, who want to take to the republic the developments taking place in some country of the world, or make predictions that these events will cause a resonance in Azerbaijan. They are also trying to link certain steps carried out by Azerbaijan with developments taking place in the world. None of these forecasts has been proved. It's just the opposition's opinion, which is baseless," Muradova said.
