The volume of grants allocated for the protected areas has increased. The Georgian Agency for protected territories reported that 3.5 million euros will be allocated for the protected areas of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan will be spent on the priorities nominated by the Agency of Protected Areas.
The issue was revised at the meeting in the Georgian Environment Protection and Natural Resources Ministry. Deputy Environment Protection and Natural Resources Minister George Zedginidze , Head of Agency of Protected Areas George Shonvadze and Director of the Joint Secretariat (TJS) Program Yap Fermat attended at the meeting organized at the Ministry.
The sides considered successful completion of the first phase and start of the second phase of program.
"Financial Cooperation with Georgia, Nature Protection Programme for the Caucasus - Georgia, Joint Secretariat (TJS) - Second Phase" was started in 2011 and will be continued during three years. The main purpose of the program is to support nature conservation and socio-economic development.
