The Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted operations at 99 enterprises to ensure the security of the population and environment from radiation in 2011, Minister Kamaleddin Heydarov said at a meeting on the sixth anniversary of Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations.
He said that as a result of the operations, about 17 enterprises received 58 conclusions and technical certificates to import and export radioactive sources.
About 136 radioactive sources were checked at 16 enterprises. About 49 acts were made, Heydarov said.
"The special industrial complex Isotope received 105 kilograms of radioactive waste on a long-term storage and 198 radioactive sources on long-term storage," he said. "About 185 radioactive sources were transported."
