There are no servicemen of the Azerbaijani defense ministry among the injured as a result of the explosion at the Araz arms plant in Azerbaijan’s Shirvan city, the country’s defense ministry told Trend July 26.

Eleven people were slightly injured as a result of the incident, said the ministry of defense industry.

An explosion occurred at Araz arms plant at 15:25 (UTC/GMT + 4 hours), July 26, said the ministry.

The injured are receiving medical treatment and are under the care of doctors.

The explosion was caused by spark in 146 tons out of 1,500 tons of products ordered by the Ministry of Defense for recycling.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree July 26 on the establishment of the state commission in connection with the explosion at the Araz arms plant owned by the country’s Ministry of Defense Industry.

Yagub Eyyubov, Azerbaijani first deputy prime minister, has been appointed the chairman of the commission.
