Two terrorists killed, one arrested in Azerbaijan (UPDATE)
Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 27
Azerbaijan’s State Security Service carried out an anti-terrorist operation on October 27, during which two terrorists were killed and one was arrested, read a message from the State Security Service.
According to the message, the State Security Service received information about creation of an armed group in Azerbaijan’s territory.
The information said the group pledged allegiance to the terrorist groups involved in the armed conflicts in other countries and it was preparing terrorist attacks and raids in Azerbaijan.
The State Security Service investigated the received information and its credibility was confirmed. Therefore, the need emerged to take immediate countermeasures, said the Security Service.
An investigation revealed that Azerbaijani citizens F. Rustamov, A Guliyev and A. Gulmammadov and other persons colluded with members of radical religious terrorist groups active outside the country.
Under the tasks received via the internet from radical religious terrorist groups, they were preparing to create an armed wing of a terrorist organization, choose a leader for the group, and lure other people to it, said the State Security Service.
According to the message, they also illegally acquired firearms and explosives, and were preparing to stage terror attacks and raids in Azerbaijan.
