30 events to be held during second Nasimi Festival in Azerbaijan

A number of innovations are expected during the Nasimi Festival of Poetry, Art and Spirituality to be held in Azerbaijan from September 28 to October 1, Trend reports on September 10.

The festival will be organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture.

About 30 events will be held within the festival, which will be organized for the second time in Baku, as well as in Shamakhi, the birthplace of great Azerbaijani thinker and poet Imadaddin Nasimi.

For the first time during the festival, scholars and experts in poetry will make comments and discuss their vision of one of Nasimi’s poems. More than ten poets from Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, Turkey and Egypt will present their interpretation of the poem.

During the festival, world-famous scholars who studied Nasimi’s creativity as well as poets and philosophers will deliver speeches. In their lectures, Russian psychologist Alexei Sytnikov, Italian poet Davide Rondoni, US researcher Alan Godlas, as well as Zeigam Azizov, philosopher and artist of Azerbaijani origin living in the UK, will draw parallels between Nasimi's philosophy and a number of theories and concepts of the modern period.

The books by German scholar Michael Hess who studied Nasimi’s poetry and researcher Orkhan Mirgasimov living in the UK who studied Nasimi’s poetry and Hurufism will be also presented within the festival.

The films which received the well-known international SIGNIS awards for inter-religious dialog in cinema art will be demonstrated during the festival

The film by Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki “The Other Side of Hope” tells about the communication and friendship of representatives of different cultures, speaking different languages and having different lifestyles.
