BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. Azerbaijan is defining procedures for eliminating damage caused to the environment and third parties due to the fault of an energy entity, Trend reports.
This issue has been reflected in a new draft law, "On Energy Industry," discussed in the Azerbaijani Parliament.
Unless otherwise provided by law, damage caused to the environment by an energy entity is either rectified by the entity responsible for the damage or compensated for in full.
Compensation for damage caused to the life, health, and property of third parties due to the fault of an energy entity is carried out by the energy entity responsible for the damage in the amount and manner specified by the Civil Code of Azerbaijan.
Compulsory insurance of civil liability for the operation of energy facilities, including construction, repair, reconstruction, or other activities in the relevant field related to the operation of immovable property, is carried out in accordance with the law of Azerbaijan "On compulsory insurance" and the country's Civil Code.
The draft law was put to the vote and adopted in the third reading after discussion.
