Draft state program on development of tourism to be submitted to gov’t next year

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism will submit to the President a draft state program on development of tourism in 2006, the Central Tourism Department of
the Ministry told Trend.

Work over the major part of the document is complete. The program covering 10 years will be sanctioned in 2006. It will provide real opportunities for making Azerbaijan a tourist zone, the same source said. The program will also encompass the issues linked with the ecological problems, the construction of hotels and facilities of hotel type.

The Ministry is currently in talks with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development on approval of governmental credits for upgrade of this sector.
