Elchin Behbudov, the chairman of the Committee against Torture, will conduct a monitoring of the Gobustan prison on 6 December, Trend reports.

The people sentenced to life imprisonment serve in this prison. The reason for monitoring is sensation raised around the reformatory over the last months. “There is information about deaths and hunger-strikes taken place in the Gobustan prison. We decided to carry out monitoring to check up the situation. We plan to get familiar with the keeping conditions of the prisoners and their problems,” he underlined.

The results of the monitoring will be submitted to the Central Department of Execution of Court Sentences.
