Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr k. Zarbaliyeva / The trial of the former Head of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Haji Mammadov, and others also charged has been postponed for an undefined period.
The defendants and their attorneys applied to the Supreme Court after their appeals were rejected at the preparatory hearing at the Court of Appeal. They have demanded for repeated investigation of the criminal case. The criminal proceedings on the case were postponed at the Court of Appeal on 29 May as the appeal of the defendants against the sentence was transmitted to the execution of the Supreme Court.
By the decision of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan Haji Mammadov was sentenced to life imprisonment.
