Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 8
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
A draft law providing for significant increase in social benefits will be submitted to the Azerbaijani parliament for consideration, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Idris Isayev said.
He made the remarks Nov. 8 at a meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament’s Committee for Labor and Social Policy.
He also noted that it is planned to increase one-time benefits for newborns.
In turn, Chairman of the Committee Hadi Rajabli also offered to issue allowances to children up to three years old.
He said it is possible to even prepare a draft law in this regard.
Further, Isayev noted that it is necessary to improve the procedure of defining disability.
“Negative cases have been eliminated in connection with defining disability,” Isayev said. “The share of people with disabilities accounts for 30 percent in Azerbaijan’s pension system. There is no such a thing in any other country.”
