Azerbaijan sees surge in agricultural output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 15. Azerbaijan’s agricultural output in current prices amounted to 10.38 billion manat ($6.09 billion) from January through November 2022, up by 3.4 percent compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the report, livestock production increased by 3.3 percent, up to 4.9 billion manat ($2.87 billion), while crop production value reached 5.4 billion manat ($3.17 billion), rising by 3.4 percent.

In the reporting period, 3.13 million tons of grains and legumes were harvested in Azerbaijan from an area of ​​977,800 hectares (99.2 percent of the total sown area). The average yield was 32 centner per hectare.

As of December 1, the country harvested 1.05 million tons of potatoes (growth of 1.25 percent), 1.81 million tons of vegetables (growth of 1.17 percent), 468,700 tons of melons (up by 1.91 percent), 1.248 million tons of fruits and berries (growth of 4.64 percent), 211,700 tons of grapes (an increase of 3.27 percent), and one million tons of green tea (a decrease of 14.85 percent).

In the first eleven months of 2022, Azerbaijan produced 522,000 tons of meat, 2.036 million tons of milk, and 1.8 billion chicken eggs. The production of meat rose by 2.9 percent, milk – by 1.85 percent, and chicken eggs – by 7.95 percent against the same period of 2021.

Moreover, 341.4 tons of silkworm cocoons were produced during the reporting period, which was 31.4 percent less than last year.
