BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 14. Azerbaijan’s industrial enterprises and sole proprietors manufactured products worth 6.5 billion manat ($3.8 billion) in January 2023, down by 4.3 percent compared to January 2022, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

In the meantime, production in the oil and gas sector declined by 4.9 percent, while in the non-oil sector – rose by two percent compared to the same period of 2022.

During this period, 74.1 percent of industrial production accounted for the mining sector, 20.5 percent – the manufacturing sector, 4.9 percent – on the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.5 percent – on the water supply, purification and waste treatment.

Furthermore, commercial oil production in Azerbaijan decreased by 6.9 percent, whereas commercial gas production reduced by 1.3 percent than in the same period of 2022.

Growth of construction materials production in the processing industry totaled 20.7 percent, cars, trailers and semi-trailers – 7.9 percent, electrical equipment – 30.9 percent, clothing – 25.4 percent, machinery and spare parts – 80.3 percent, leather and products thereof – 2.9 times, paper and cardboard – 44.9 percent, lumber and products thereof – 2.9 times, textile production – 1.3 percent, computer and optical products – 44.6 percent, and drinks – by 24.1 percent.

In January 2023, tobacco production dropped by 4.2 percent, pharmaceuticals – 45.5 percent, oil products – by nine percent, production in the chemical industry – 18.1 percent, in the metallurgical industry – 15.6 percent, furniture – 18.6 percent, finished metal products – 24.5 percent, food products – 0.1 percent, as well as rubber and plastic products – 2.6 percent, compared to the same period of 2022.

The production volume in manufacturing, distribution, and supply of electricity, as well as gas and steam, rose by 8.3 percent. Moreover, production in water supply, waste treatment, and processing grew by 15.4 percent in Jan. 2023 compared to the same period of 2022.

Azerbaijan’s industrial enterprises and sole proprietors manufactured products worth 86 billion manat ($50.5 billion) in 2022, which was 1.1 percent less than in 2021.
