Kazakhstan, Astana, May 6 / Trend, A. Maratov /
Former Kazakh Interior Minister Serik Baymaganbetov was appointed as the Finance Ministry's Customs Control Committee chairman today.
"I signed a decree to dismiss Karbuzov and appoint Baymaganbetov as the chairman of the Customs Control Committee," Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov wrote today on his Twitter page.
Karbuzov's dismissal happened because of a great scandal. A criminal group that was engaged in smuggling goods from China to Kazakhstan was arrested on Tuesday.
More than a hundred people, including high-ranking officials of the customs office, police and national security committee were included in the group.
