The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry has submitted proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers to more efficiently place parking spaces in Baku, a source in the Ministry of Transport said.
The parking spaces are likely to be built by the representatives of the private sector, the source said.
It is a necessity to build parking spaces to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles on the streets, he said.
"Many people leave their cars on the streets," a source said. "It hampers the process of moving. It is one of the causes of traffic jams. Building surface and underground car parking will significantly improve the situation in Baku."
According to the proposals, about 100 new parking spaces are planned to be built.
