Kazakhstan plans to increase financing of space satellites management by more than three times in 2014 compared to the current year

Kazakhstan plans to increase financing of space satellites management by more than three times in 2014 compared to the current year, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.

According to the Strategic Plan of the Kazakh National Space Agency Kazcosmos, Kazakhstan has spent 981.1 million tenge for management of communication and broadcasting spacecrafts. The country will spend 989.3 million tenge (148,83 tenge = $1) in 2013 and 2.8 billion tenge in 2014 for this purpose.

In 2009 Kazakhstan spent 284.2 million tenge for management of communication and broadcasting spacecrafts, while 129.6 million tenge in 2010 and 1.3 billion in 2011.

According to the strategic plan, Kazakh operators will reduce their expenses on rent of foreign satellite communication channels by 25 percent by 2013.

Kazkosmos expects that by 2014 Kazakhstan will have in operation two satellites KazSat. At present, the country has only one satellite - KazSat 2. Spacecraft KazSat3 is under construction.
