Kyrgyzstan, Russia mull country’s joining Customs Union

Kyrgyzstan and Russia have discussed the issue of the country’s joining the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan during a tête-à-tête meeting of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev with Russian Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev, KyrTAG reported on Wednesday.

Kyrgyzstan and Russia have discussed the issue of the country's joining the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan during a tête-à-tête meeting of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev with Russian Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev, KyrTAG reported on Wednesday.

The Kyrgyz president stressed that Russia is a major strategic partner for the country.

Kyrgyzstan is aimed to further development and intensification of bilateral cooperation with Russia, Atabayev said.

Earlier Kyrgyz Economy Minister Temir Sariyev said that Kyrgyzstan will be ready to join the Customs Union in 2014.
