Azerbaijan and Russia look into border queues problem

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 18 / Trend A. Akhundov /

Representatives of the customs services of Azerbaijan and Russia met to discuss the ways to reduce queues at the border, RIA Dagestan reported on Friday.

A working meeting of representatives of the border services of Russia and Azerbaijan was recently held at the Yarag-Kazmalyar border checkpoint. The meeting was attended by Dagestan customs officers as well.

The parties developed a number of measures aimed at eliminating delays in admission of citizens and vehicles passing through the border checkpoint, Dagestan customs representative informed RIA Dagestan.

Participants of the meeting addressed issues of improvement of interaction between the state control bodies of Russia and Azerbaijan.

As previously reported by the State Customs Committee (SCC), the queue of cars trying to cross the border has been recently observed at the Samur customs checkpoint of the State Customs Committee's Khachmaz Customs Department of the Azerbaijani-Russian border. The State Customs Committee said that the queues are not connected with problems on the Azerbaijani side.

According to the SCC, the main cause of the problems is excessively long procedures of checking the cars at the Magerramkend checkpoint in Dagestan.

'Azerbaijani customs' bodies promptly ensure the process of passenger and cars passing through the state border', a statement said.
