Iranian engineers have succeeded in manufacturing a free bending machine which is frequently used in different industries and is not currently imported due to international sanctions imposed on the country, ISNA reported.

The technology for manufacturing the system had been held by Japan, U.S.A, and Germany.

The system is used in home appliances, cars, aerospace, construction and furniture, as well as the petrochemical industries.

Global sanctions against Iran not only did not hinder the country's oil industry, but also turned the Islamic republic into an exporter of equipment and goods, Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said in May 2012.

"Despite all the threats from our enemies, there is no concern regarding development of the oil industry relying on expertise and knowledge of Iranian scientists," he said, IRNA reported.

Qasemi said that the country is approaching "total self-sufficiency" in the production of equipment required for the country's oil industry.
