A new regular container train was launched between Kazakh Kyzylorda region and the city of Xi'an in Chinese Shaanxi province on November 28, Kazakh railways reported (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy).

This train will reduce the delivery of goods by 21 days to eight days.

The total length of the train route is 6,795 kilometers, including 2,825 kilometers in Kazakhstan.

The new train will cover a distance of 1,000 kilometers per day.

KTZ Express which is 100 percent owned by national company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy operates the project in Kazakhstan.

The parties adopted measures for electronic data exchange to accelerate border crossing procedures.

"The train is intended to increase the attractiveness of the trans-Kazakhstan routes and demonstrate the capabilities of Kazakh transport infrastructure and logistics service," Kazakh railways said.

Kazakhstan and China are considering the use of similar trains from the Kazakh Mangistau region to China and through the Aktau seaport to Caucasus and Turkey.

The parties also plan to launch two more container trains from Xi'an to Central Asia and Europe in early 2014.
