International organizations are ready to support the creation of new favorable conditions for small business in Azerbaijan, Torbjörn Fredriksson, Head the ICT Analysis Section of the Division on Technology and Logistics at the UN Conference on Trade and Development told reporters July 11 on the sidelines of the conference on "Electronic commerce in Azerbaijan: current status and prospects of development" in Baku.
"Today we will take part in the conference, which is of great importance for the development of trade in Azerbaijan. The world economy is changing very fast nowadays thanks to digitalization and the increasing volume of online transactions contributing to the development of e-commerce. This process has a positive impact on the economies of many countries, but at the same time it is not easy in terms of implementation," Fredriksson said.
The participants of the conference are representatives of such international organizations as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the International Trade Center, the European Union and others.
The conference will discuss the provision of new opportunities for small business in Azerbaijan, such as access to new markets and cooperation with new partners.
According to Fredriksson, the government of Azerbaijan will also need significant assistance in the form of changes in customs policy, regulation of payments and the creation of the necessary infrastructure to support small business.
"The UN is always ready to support Azerbaijan, and to learn from Azerbaijan in some ways. I have no doubt that the seminar in which we are participating today will have a positive impact on further decision-making on the development of trade, as well as will serve in general for strengthening of cooperation between Azerbaijan and international organizations," Fredriksson said.
