Uzbekistan intensifies cooperation in TRACECA project

Uzbekistan is intensifying cooperation in the framework of TRACECA transport corridor project, Trend reports with reference to the decree of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The document approved the "guidebook" on the fundamental improvement of freight and passenger traffic in Uzbekistan.

A proposal has been made on the expediency of intensifying cooperation within the TRACECA framework. In particular, by the end of March, the relevant departments should submit to the government a conclusion on the possibility of Uzbekistan joining the agreement on joint financing of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA intergovernmental commission.

In December 2017, Mirziyoev approved a comprehensive program of diversification of foreign trade routes for the transportation of goods for 2018-2022, which focuses on the development of transit routes to Europe through the Caucasus and Turkey.

TRACECA is a program of international cooperation between the European Union and the partner countries in the organization of the transport corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia. In organizational terms, TRACECA is an intergovernmental commission.

TRACECA program was established in 1993 on the basis of the Brussels Declaration with the participation of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Moldova, Mongolia and Ukraine joined the program later ; in 2000 - Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria, in 2009 - Iran.
