Iran's National Competition Council delays announcing car prices

The delay in the announcement of car prices by the National Competition Council of Iran benefits neither automakers nor the customers, Head of Public Relations Department of Iran Khodro Industrial Group Davoud Norooz Beigi told Trend.

According to Norooz Beigi, this delay has resulted in an unclear situation for those willing to buy cars.

He added that although customers want to purchase the cars, they are unable to do so due to the lack of inbformation on the new prices.

Norooz Beigi noted that each day of delay in the announcement of the new prices means more losses to automakers.

"The National Competition Council of Iran must announce prices once every three months, but the prices have not been announced yet," he said.

The official said that the prices in the Iranian car market are very high, and there is a big difference between the factory prices of cars and the market price.

"Only brokers benefit from the price difference, and automakers do not benefit from this price difference," he said.

In Iran, automakers can deliver cars to customers at the prices set by the National Competition Council of Iran.

There is a big difference between the prices announced by the center for the first three months of current Iranian year (March 20-June 20, 2020) and the prices in the Iranian car market as of July 13.

In Iran, when citizens want to buy a car directly from a car company, they register by paying a certain amount of money and take over the car at the announced price after the car is produced.

The table below shows the prices of some cars of Iran Khodro. The prices were showed according to Iranian official rate ($1 equals to 42,000).
