BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.4

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

As of September 4, up to 4,000 tons of grapes have been processed within the summer grape harvest of 2020 (Rtveli) in Georgia, Trend reports via the National Wine Agency.

More than 140 wine companies have already been registered in the special grape vintage coordination center.

Some 22 wineries are already involved in processing of grapes. The cost of the grapes handed over has already reached 509,560 laris worth ($165,961).

The government of Georgia will subsidize the grape varieties of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane in 2020 to support farmers and help them sell their goods. The price of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane will not be less than 80 tetris ($0.26) per kilogram.

The volume of grapes processed during the 2019 harvest in Georgia reached 271,000 tons, which was the highest harvest volume over the last 30 years.
