Iran imported 8.6 million tons of animal feed (barley, corn, and compressed soybeans) during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2020), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.
According to the Latifi, 6.4 million tons of corn, 1.25 million tons of barley, and 945,000 tons of compressed soybeans were imported to Iran over the reporting period.
He added that the imports of these goods decreased by 2.7 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
The customs official emphasized that the imports of barley decreased by 34 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
“In addition, the imports of soybeans decreased by 19 percent, while imports of corn increased by 16 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” Latifi noted.
Iran imported 21.8 million tons of goods worth $23.1 billion within the first 8 months of the current Iranian year. Iran's imports decreased by 18 percent in terms of value and 1 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
