Iran's TPO expects trade growth

The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade and the Head of TPO said that according to the optimistic scenario, the country's foreign trade will be increased by 21 percent in the current Iranian year (started on March 21, 2021).

Different factors are effective in setting goals and forecasts, so in the issue of foreign trade, different scenarios should be developed to achieve business goals, the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade and the Head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Hamid Zadboum said, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

"One of the factors affecting our country's foreign trade is the reduction of the coronavirus outbreak and vaccination," he said.

He went on to say that boosting production and dismantling the obstacles is another factor affecting the country's foreign trade.

Referring to the coming presidential election in June, Zadboom said that the political situation in the country affects our economic situation.

Referring to the issue of nuclear talks in Vienna and the potential lifting of sanctions, he says that it definitely plays a role in our country's trade situation.

Depending on various factors, he says that two pessimistic and optimistic scenarios have been developed for the country's foreign trade in 2021.

Zadboum went on to announce a 15 percent decrease in the country's foreign trade in terms of value and weight in 2020 compared to 2019.

"The import statistics show a decrease of 11.7 percent in terms of value and about 5.8 percent in terms of weight in 2020 compared to 2019. According to the Sixth Development Plan, the amount of foreign trade should increase by 21 percent annually, which of course has not been achieved so far," he added.
