The number of mines launched in Iran decreased by 17.5 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.
According to the statistics, 292 mines have been launched in Iran within the mentioned period. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 354.
“A total of 2,725 people were employed with the launch of the mines. The employment decreased by 3.7 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 2,830 people had been employed in the same period last year,” the statistics said.
Within 7 months, Iran issued 567 licenses on mining exploration, which is an increase of 0.9 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the figure amounted to 562 in the same period last Iranian year.
According to the statistics, about 2.1 trillion rials (about $50.1 million) have been spent on mining exploration during the reporting period. Expenditures increased by 169 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. In the same period last Iranian year, Iran has spent 782 billion rials (about $18.6 million) in this regard.
