BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. Overall, 2 million tons of goods worth $2.2 billion were imported through the customs of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the south-east of the country, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), Director for the Economic Affairs Department of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province Governor Office Mojtaba Shojaei told IRNA, Trend reports.

Shojaei noted that the imports via the province’s customs for the reporting period increased by 49 percent in value while decreasing by 18 percent in volume compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022).

The official added that wheat, rice, corn feed, mango, sesame, potato, cloth, tea, auto spare parts, and so on were the main goods imported to the country via the customs of Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the last Iranian year.

“The mentioned goods were mainly imported from Russia, Pakistan, France, Germany, India, and others,” he said.

There are 12 customs offices and border markets in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

In total, Iran imported 33.6 million tons of goods worth $53.7 billion within the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023).

This is an increase of 15.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 8.61 percent in volume compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.
