BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Iran’s imports through the customs of Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran), decreased by 41 percent in value and 82 percent in volume, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Supervisor of Sistan and Baluchestan Province Customs Office Mohammad Ali Khashi told Tasnim News Agency, Trend reports.
“Within the 1st month, 31,500 tons of goods worth $58.6 million were imported through the customs of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchistan Province,” he said.
Khashi added that rice, sesame, cloth, dry tea, auto spare parts, heavy trucks tires, and so on were the main goods imported to the country via the customs of Sistan and Baluchestan Province for the reporting month.
According to the official, the mentioned goods were mainly imported from Pakistan, India, UAE, China and Afghanistan.
There are 12 customs offices and border markets in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Meanwhile in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), 2 million tons of goods worth $2.22 billion were imported through the customs of Sistan and Baluchistan. This is an increase of 49 percent in value, while a decrease of 18 percent in volume compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
Overall, Iran imported 1.83 million tons of goods worth $3.08 billion for the 1st month. The imports decreased by 13 percent in value and 24.8 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
