Iran’s non-oil imports from Georgia plunge

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. Iran's non-oil imports from Georgia fell by 39.1 percent in value and 11.3 percent in volume during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

In five months, Iran imported 19,000 tons of goods valued at $44.7 million from Georgia, as reflected in the report of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA). This was lower than the 21,500 tons ($73.4 million) imported in the same period last year.

Iran imported mainly agricultural products, timber, various types of equipment, spare parts, etc. from Georgia.

Over the fifth month alone (July 23 through August 22, 2023), Iran imported 5,070 tons of goods worth approximately $11.4 million from Georgia.

Overall, Iran imported 14.4 million tons of goods worth $24.2 billion within the first 5 months of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 7.49 percent in value and 2.17 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
