Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 February / Trend / In January 2008, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), except of joint ventures and operating companies, drilled 17,244 m, while in January 2007 it was 15,420 m, SOCAR reported.
The volume of exploitation drilling constituted 16,492 m in January, and in January 2007 it was 14, 988 m. Exploratory drilling totalled 752 m, and in January 2007 it was 432 m.
By 1 January 2008, the exploitation wells numbered 7,211, while by 1 January 2007 it was 7,039. In 2007, 148 were drilled and 396 wells were put into exploitation after repair.
