Head of SOCAR Replaced

Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 February / corr Trend V.Sharifov, S.Aliyev / Farid Akhundov has been appointed the head of the Azerbaijan-American joint venture Caspian Drilling Company, replacing Shaik Bakirov in this position, the SOCAR reported on 27 February.

In Feb, Bakirov was appointed deputy head of the Oil and Gas Department at the SOCAR Administration.

Earlier, the Caspian Drilling Company drilled wells for ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, and AGIP. The company has two drilling rigs Dada Gorgud and Istiglal, which are currently working at the order of BP. Thus, Dada Gorgud operates in the Deepwater Gunashli field (a part of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli contract area) and Istiglal on Inam prospect.

CDC joint venture has two rigs in Azerbaijan, Dede Gorgud and Istiglal, which are operating for ВР Azerbaijan in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz fields.

Partners at the Caspian Drilling Company are SOCAR (55% stake) and Transocean (45%).
