The program, developed by the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan, envisages developing alternative energy sources on the Chilov and Pirallahi islands, head of oil and gas department of the Ministry of Energy Idris Rzabeyov said on May 18.
According to him, the program envisages development of alternative and renewable energy sources not only onshore, but also offshore. Currently, work on the new program continues, and is at the stage of completion, said Rzabeyov.
The program to develop alternative energy sources in Azerbaijan will last until 2015 in the short term, and 2020 in the long term, Azerbaijani Alternative and Renewable Energy State Agency Deputy Director Jamil Melikov said earlier. "Our plan is to divide our medium- and long-term goals until 2015 and before 2020," Melikov said.
About 1 million manat was allocated for the primary research in the field of alternative and renewable energy sources. Also, the public budget provided 40 million manat for the implementation of pilot projects in this regard, the Minister of Industry and Energy Natik Aliyev said earlier.
