Iran is getting closer to water crisis, while it faces reduce in level of rainfall to 180 millimeters on current solar year (started on March20 ,2011), Managing Director of Iran Water and Wastewater Engineering Co Mehdi Samareh Hashemi as saying.
"The average of Iran's rainfall during past 40 years was 250 millimeters, the statistics indicate reduction on level of rainfall in last solar year and reduced to 230 millimeters, while this figure for current solar year became 180 millimeters," he said.
The figures indicate Iran's rainfall level is not suitable and serious measure should be applied while the country faces water demands from agriculture, industry and domestic sector.
He noted country's limited water resources are not sufficient for increasing demands and the continuance of this situation leads to water crisis.
